Ara is a struggling artist in his late 30s who has been dependent on his wife's income for all of their lives. As the years passed, he could feel how much life was slipping away. With that in mind, Ara embarks on a quest to do just that—find an instrument for which he can create something valuable without someone else adding their touch. This is where things get interesting... Directed by: Nandita Das Written by: Nandita Das Produced by: Shobha Kapoor, Ekta Kapoor and Shailesh Singh Starring: Irrfan Khan, Tannishtha Chatterjee, Konkona Sen Sharma and Shernaz Patel Release date(s): 16 November 2012"The Daabra is about an idea that comes to someone out of the blue."— director Nandita Das. "I am not saying this film is about my life or mine or someone else's story; it's about many. It's also not autobiographical, but there are certain similarities with my own life. But this is a reflection of my life, and the life of our times. It is about how we all look at our own lives and nostalgia. The Daabra is about how we look at our own lives and nostalgia."— director Nandita Das. "The film (The Daabra) is essentially about the fact that we are really bad with nostalgia and all of us crave for something that will take us back to a time when it seemed much simpler, better, without hardships for us or between us. We all look back to the past much more than any other age or generation has ever looked back before. So we are all nostalgic. We all think we know what we want, but we don't. All of us have a different idea of that one thing that will lead us to the dark hole from where there is no coming back—but it's just not true."— director Nandita Das. "The film reflects the fact that everyone wants to give up doing something for which they have a lot of passion and a lot of talent, because they can't make a living out of it. There are so many people who have so much talent and nobody knows about them for this reason."—director Nandita Das talking about her film The Daabra. "I have always been in love with you" - Ara to Maya "The Daabra is about two people who are trapped in one room. They are not allowed to leave the room and they know that they will die there. They converse and create a circle. The idea of the circle comes up again and again through various ways like the badminton court, or the street, or school." — director Nandita Das talking about her film The Daabra. "My biggest hope for this film (The Daabra) is that it will start a dialogue on how we all think we know what we want but we don't. cfa1e77820
